Production Process

At our work shop we’re working hard to intricately craft each bobblehead with attention to detail. Here is how we do it:

Step 1 When you enter your order it immediately drops into our database production queue. Here the order is assigned to a team of artists who are each specialized in their core area of interest. We have artists who focus on molding just faces, artists who are expertise in just hair design, and artists whose specialty is colour application and painting. The first step is for our face artists to begin hand sculpting the face out of a ball of clay. They focus on accentuating key characteristics and facial expressions that make you look like you! This might be your unique smile, bone structure, facial hair (beards and moustaches), etc… At the same time that your face is being created we have artists working on creating your hair pattern based on the photo provided.

Step 2 Once the clay head is in completion and you have approved the digital proof that we send, we then pour wax over the clay and create a mold. This mold enables us to convert from clay form to polyresin which is far more robust enabling you to bobble the head without it breaking or chipping away.

Step 3 The polyresin head is painted based on the colour codes you select at the time of order. Once the painting is complete we airbrush to add ‘life’ to the bobble head, and thereafter connect it by spring to the body you selected. We send a final proof to you and once you approve it, the ‘bobble buddy’ passes through quality control for final inspection prior to being shipped to the Blacks store for pick up.
